This is as another young lady has been sent
to an early grave by individuals suspected to
be Fulani herdsmen.
Elizabeth Pascal was said to have been
gruesomely murdered on Monday at CAC
Olorunda, Moriwi Community of Imeko-Afon
Local Government.
DAILY POST gathered that Pascal had gone to
the stream to fetch water for domestic use
when she met her untimely death.
On her way back from the stream, the young
lady had encountered her assailants, who, it
was learnt, did not hesitate before hacking
her to death in cold blood.
The Eselu of Iselu, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi,
confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on
Monday night.

According to the traditional ruler, the
incident happened around 3pm on Monday.
“Yes, it is true. The lady was killed today by
Fulani herdsmen around Imeko Afon. She
went to the stream and on her way coming
she met the Fulani herdsmen and they killed
her. It happened around 3 o’clock according
to the report,” the Eselu stated.
DAILY POST recalls that attacks on
communities in Yewa have been going on
for the past three weeks, even as the
Governor Dapo Abiodun government makes
efforts to stem the tide.
To proffer a lasting solution, Gov Abiodun
had visited some places in the troubled
areas, with an assurance that criminal
individuals would be dealt with.
The Governor promised to deploy a security
task force to the area in order to stop the
killing of Ogun indigenes.
But, Abiodun said those behind the killings
in Ogun are not the peaceful Fulani people,
who he said are traditionally herdsmen.
According to him, the perpetrators of the
heinous act are bandits, who the governor
described as cattle rustlers.
During his visit to President Muhammadu
Buhari, Abiodun disclosed that relative
peace is now being enjoyed in the affected

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Niger State Command have recovered 27 new rifles from two suspects during a routine stop and search operation in Kontagora area of the state.
The suspects; Danjuma Auta, 35, and Daniel Danrangi, 25, both male and from Dirin Daji, Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State were arrested along Kontagora – Zuru road, Niger state on Monday night.

According to the Niger state Commander of the Agency, Mr. Aloye Isaac Oludare, the duo were arrested with 12 locally fabricated AK 47 rifles and 15 locally fabricated pistols. The rifles were concealed in a white sack while on a motorcycle to an unknown place when they were arrested.

“Kontagora where the weapons were seized is about 107 kilometers from Kagara, a town in Niger State where there have been mass abductions of women, children and secondary school students in the last one month.

“Preliminary investigation shows that the fabricator of the weapons resides in Kamfaninwaya, not far away from Kontagora, while one of the pistols is fully loaded. The suspects and the weapons will be transferred to the Nigerian Police Headquarters, Minna for further investigation and prosecution of the suspects”, he stated.

In another operation, operatives of NDLEA, Ondo State Command have raided Ita-Ipele and Ipele forests, Owo LGA of Ondo State. “During the operation, Six suspects, namely; Stephen Ikechukwu, 38; Stephen Friday, 32; Austin Osadebe, 58; Friday Paul, 29; Adebayo Raphael, 25 and John Pius, 45, were arrested.

“A total of 41kgs of Cannabis Sativa and 6kgs of Cannabis Seeds were recovered during the operation, while a total of five hectares of Cannabis farm was located and destroyed”, the Ondo state Commander of the Agency, Mr. Haruna Gagara stated.

It was reported that 32 people have been arrested and also sentenced for violating the COVID19 rules and regulations in Edo state for not wearing facemask.

It was stated that the arrest happened on Monday, March 1st, 2021.

The Edo government has made it compulsory for residents to wear face masks and obey other Covid-19 protocols in order to curb the spread of the virus.

The Prosecuting Counsel, Uyi Omoruyi, said that the 32 people were arrested within Benin metropolis and they pleaded guilty to the offence.

The Chief Magistrate, Rusberth Imafidon, directed the convicts to carry out community services in line with the Correctional Centre of Non-custodian regulation.

The punishment includes clearing drains, shrubs, picking of trash, compulsory community sensitisation and grass cutting among others.

Mr. Imafidon noted that the offenders should be punished for three hours for two days to serve as a deterrent to other violators.

He, however, did not give them the option of a fine.

He ordered that correctional officers should supervise offenders during the punishment period.

Man pretending to be an Okada rider arrested for allegedly walking into a compound and attempting to snatch a 4-months old baby from the mother

The police in Anambra state have arrested a man who posed as an Okada rider, Ikecgukwu Odom, 25, and attempted to kidnap a four-months-old baby from the mother.

A statement released by Mohammed Haruna, spokesperson of the state police command, says on Sunday, February 28, the police received a distress call at Okpunoeze Uruagu, Nnewi that a 25-year-old man, Ikechukwu Odoh, who pretended to be an okada rider allegedly went into a compound in the area and attempted to snatch a 
four months old baby girl named Success Odeh from her mother.

''The mother resisted and screamed for help which attracted the attention of the neighbours who in conjunction with local vigilante assisted the police in arresting the suspect.''Haruna said.

The police spokesperson added that the case is currently under investigation to ascertain the motive behind such act, after which the suspect will be brought to justice.

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Aisha Abdullahi Gaide for child molestation and attempted homicide.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, March 1, said the suspect beat her 8-year-old stepdaughter Zahra Abdullahi with an electric wire and afterwards burnt her private part with lighted matches.

"On 15/02/2021 at about 1800hrs, Secretary to the State Action Committee on Gender Based Violence (SGVB), Mrs. Talatu Musa arrested and brought one Aisha Abdullahi Gaide of Kofar Durmi near Tudun Tarima Bauchi to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi with a complaint that on 14/02/2021 at about 1300hrs, the aforementioned suspect molested her step daughter identified as Zahra Abdullahi aged 8yrs of same address," the statement reads.

"Zahra had allegedly poked at her clothes while sleeping and this provoked her step mother Aisha, who reacted by beating her with an electric wire after which she also lighted matches and put it on Zahra's private part as a result of which she sustained high degree of injury on her private part and some part of her body."
Wakil said that on receipt of the case, a team of detectives were drafted to convey the victim to a hospital for emergency treatment.

"The Command will delve into a high level investigation to ascertain the absolute fact of the case after which the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution/possible conviction." he added.

Following my very frustrating efforts to get bail for my sister and her son held by the Police due to an alleged petition lodged at the CP Monitoring Unit at Umuahia, Abia State, I needed to post the following lengthy write-up.

WHAT A COUNTRY!

On Thursday 26th February 2021 by about 2:00pm, I got a call from an unknown number and the voice at the other end turned out to be that of my nephew, Mr. Sunday Nwosu. He was calling me with his wife’s phone.

Sunday told me that he was arrested at an Ikoyi GT Bank location and was being held at the Ikoyi Divisional Police station at No. 39 Awolowo Road, Ikoyi - apparently with regards to a petition lodged at the CP Monitoring Unit at Umuahia, Abia State. On further investigation, it turned out that my sister (Sunday’s mother) was also simultaneously picked up by the Police at a GT Bank location in Ikeja and was being held at the Alausa Police station - based on the same petition.

Our family lawyers eventually traced the source of the petition to the CP Monitoring Unit at the Umuahia Police station. After several efforts, we contacted the Investigating Police Office (IPO) in Umuahia who refused bluntly to provide any details of the petition or the petitioner. Using a lawyer dispatched from Por Harcourt to Umuahia, we learnt (unofficially) that the petition was written against my nephew, Mr. Sunday Nwosu. The petitioner’s claim was that he had an agreement to buy US Dollars from Sunday and based on the agreement, he was instructed by Sunday to pay the Naira equivalent to seven different Nigerian bank accounts (including the GT bank account belonging to Sunday’s mum - (Mrs. Dorathy Nwosu). The petitioner further claimed that after making all the Naira transfers into the seven local banks (ninety-six million Naira in total), Sunday refused to pay him the agreed US Dollar equivalent.

Interestingly, Sunday has NEVER (ever) carried out any Dollar transactions (buying or selling) with anybody and does not know anybody in Umuahia or Abia State. He has also not been in communication with anyone from Umuahia in the recent past months.

Also, there are no records of any funds transfer(s) into Mrs. Nwosu’s personal GT bank account or for that matter, into the bank accounts belonging to her secondary or primary schools located in Ogun State. Mrs. Dorathy Nwosu and her husband, Mr. Peter Nwosu are joint proprietors and owners of a fairly successful secondary school and primary school located in Ogun State. The two schools were set up several years ago and have grown through the couple’s diligence and hard work into one of the good schools in Ogun State.

My sister retired some years ago as a Vice Principal in Lagos State Ministry of Education. She was accorded the prestigious “pens down” ceremony by Lagos State complete with one of the Lagos State Governor’s special awards for her contribution to the State’s Ministry of Education.

After frantic efforts to get some sort of bail for my sister and her son, it became clear that the setup had all the characteristics of an extortion racket!

Apparently to inflict the maximum possible discomfort to the detainees, the two arrests were made by midday on Thursday 25th February which will lead to the possible incarceration of the two people up to at least Monday, 1st March 2021 without infringing on the law of “no detention should last more than forty-eight hours in Police custody”. I hear that the Police does not recognise hours during the weekends as part of the 48 hours count! The discomfort resulting from the long hours of incarceration and detention in our horrible Police cells will (or so they figure) accelerate negotiations along the Nigerian ways of “settling” these types of cases.

My biggest concern is my sister’s health condition. She is over 64 years old and has mild diabetes. For her to incarcerated for some days for an offence she knows little or nothing about is, to say the least, brutal.

How on earth is it possible for a US Dollar sales transaction of up to ninety-six million Naira to be conducted by telephone between an unknown individual based in Umuahia and two innocent individuals based in Lagos? Even more baffling is the question of the anonymity of the petitioner and the refusal of the Umuahia based Police authorities to release the contents of the petition!

As at today, 27th February 2021 by 18:30 hr, two unfortunate Nigerians are still in Police custody for well over fifty-four (54) hours) based on a secret petition written by a faceless petitioner, who is only known to the Nigerian Police!

The latest I have heard is that my sister and her son can only be bailed on Monday 1st March 2021, except there is an explicit intervention by The Abia State Commissioner of Police! So …

We once had a country!

My son was killed - Mother of 26-year-old man who allegedly committed suicide in Jos over N300,000 debt says

The mother of Abdulmalik Kabir Garba, who allegedly committed suicide by drinking sniper has claimed that her son was murdered. 

NaijaCover reported that Malik allegedly took his own life in Dilimi area of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State on February 21, because he was unable to pay back the N300,000 he borrowed from his childhood friend. 

Speaking to Daily Trust on Monday, March 1, the mother of the deceased, Amina Ishak, claimed the circumstances surrounding her son’s death were questionable and only the police could unravel the cause of his death.

"There was no any pressure or disturbances in him before and even the day of his death because, on that very Sunday, he went for morning football training as he used to do and returned home. He took his bath and went to his business area and only for me to be called that my first son was dead after taking him to the hospital,” she said.

She insisted that there was no reason for someone to say that he drank Sniper and died instantly.

"Two days before his demise, my son returned from Bauchi State where he collected his diploma certificate at Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, to proceed with his education. This is somebody who has prepared to proceed to a university. So, the whole thing is mysterious and we call on the security to investigate the matter and bring to book whoever is involved in the killing."

A suspected internet fraudster has been placed under investigation in Uganda for allegedly using a stolen credit card to purchase a flight ticket.

The airport officials said Muhammad Nura Umar used a “network of accomplices” for the fraud.

The suspect was arrested over allegedly using a stolen credit card details to purchase a Rwandair flight ticket from Entebber International Airport to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Muhammad Nura Umar was believed to be a graduate student of Stafford University where he obtain his bachelors degree in Computer Science and Information Technology.

Muhammad, 23, of Kebbi, Nigeria, was arrested March. 1 over allegedly using a credit card to purchase a flight ticket. Muhammad was arrested by Uganda Police at Entebbe International Airport as he was about to board a Rwandair Airways flight bound for Lagos, Nigeria.

Muhammad was charged with conspiracy, and mail fraud, and extortion. If convicted of all offenses, he faces a maximum prison sentence of 5 fine of $5,000 on each of the counts of the indictment, and two years of supervised release. A trial date will be set after extradition proceedings have been completed, which could take several months.

The suspect was arrested and detained by Uganda Police and will be prosecuted to face the law as soon as he was convicted and pleaded guilty.

An indictment is a formal charge against a defendant that is comprised of the essential facts constituting the offense charged. Under the law, a defendant is presumed to be innocent of a charge until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt to the satisfaction of a jury.

1 Nigerian Arrested Over Alleged Credit Card Fraud

Men of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested two suspects for allegedly raping their neighbour's mentally-challenged 16-year-old daughter in Azare town. 

Spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday March 1, said the suspects, Kabiru Nuhu, 20, and Ado Auwal, 19, conspired and raped the victim in an uncompleted building. 

"On 11/2021 at about 1600hr one Muhammad Abubakar aged 50yrs of Tatari Ali quarters Azare reported that on the same date at about 1500hrs, one Kabiru Nuhu aged 20yrs and Ado Auwal aged 19yrs of same address criminally conspired and had unlawful carnal knowledge of his mentally challenged daughter, one Hasiya (not real name) aged 16yrs in an uncompleted building," the statement says.

On receipt of the report, a team of detectives were drafted to the scene, the victim was rushed to General Hospital Azare while the suspects were arrested.

During interrogation, the suspects made voluntary confessional statements admitting to have committed the offence.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution after which the suspects will be charged to court.

One of California’s most notorious serial rapists and killers, known as the I-5 Strangler, has died after allegedly being attacked in prison.

Roger Reece Kibbe, 81, was discovered unresponsive on the floor of his cell at Mule Creek State Prison at around 12.45am on Sunday.

Kibbe’s cellmate, convicted murderer Jason Budrow sporting a ‘666’ tattoo on his forehead, was found standing next to the mortally injured man.

Kibbe was taken to the prison’s medical facility, where he was pronounced dead at 1.30am, Fox 40 reported.

Amador County Undersheriff Gary Redman said Kibbe’s death was ‘being investigated as a homicide.’

Officials did not say how Kibbe died, or whether a weapon was used.

Budrow, 40, who is serving a life sentence on a 2011 second-degree murder conviction, has been moved to an administrative segregation unit. As of Monday afternoon, he has not been charged in connection with Kibbe’s death.

Kibbe was serving multiple life sentences without the possibility of parole for raping and killing at least seven women and girls over the span of 30 years.

Kibbe, a married furniture maker whose brother was a police detective, was initially convicted in 1991 and sentenced to life in prison for strangling to death 17-year-old Darcie Frackenpoh.

The runaway from Seattle was killed after she disappeared from a West Sacramento street frequented by prostitutes, and her naked body was found in the mountains south of Lake Tahoe in 1987.

Kibbe took a plea deal in 2008 to avoid the death penalty and was sentenced to multiple life sentences

DNA evidence from six other murders, in which the victims were throttled, linked Kibbe to the crimes that were committed between 1977 and 1987.

In 2008, he pleaded guilty to murder counts with special enhancements of rape and kidnapping stemming from the killings of Lou Ellen Burleigh, Lora Heedrick, Barbara Ann Scott, Stephanie Brown, Charmaine Sabrah and Katherine Kelly Quinones.

Burleigh, 21, had left her Walnut Creek home in 1977 for a job interview but never returned. She was kidnapped to Lake Berryessa, tied up, raped and murdered. Her skeletal remains were recovered in a creekbed in 2011, some 34 years after her death.

Hon. Gumi Commends Governor Matawalle Over Release Of Jangebe Schoolgirls

> EFCC Nabs 13 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Lagos 
…Five Internet Fraudsters Convicted

Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on March 2, 2021 arrested 13 persons for their alleged involvement in cyber-crime. 

They are: Idris Ridwan, Shonnaike Adejumobi, Afeez Kareem, Adedire David, Muodozie Patrick, Abidemi Smart, Damilare Gabriel, Foluwako David, Adeleye Smart, Jimoh Olaitan, Olabode Thomas, Akinseye Mayowa and Macaulay Olawale.

They were arrested at their hideout at Gabriel Ajawa Close, Lekki, Lagos, following credible intelligence on their alleged criminal activities.

They will soon be arraigned in Court.

In a related development, the Lagos Zonal Office secured the conviction and sentencing of five internet fraudsters before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of a Special Offences Court , Lagos State High Court, Ikeja.

They are: Andre Agbai Kalu, Olaide Ibrahim Oladimeji, Michael Fatuase Makanjuola, Erekefi Omuedi and Bakare Daniel Oluwadamilare.

They were arraigned on February 18, 2021 on separate charges bordering on possession of fraudulent documents contrary to Section 320 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Upon their arraignment, they pleaded "guilty" to the charge.

In view of their plea, the prosecuting counsel, Ahmed Yerima reviewed the case before the Court and tendered documents printed from their email accounts, as well as items recovered from them.

Delivering judgment on February 26, 2021, Justice Taiwo found them guilty of the offence and sentenced each of them to six months imprisonment with an option of fine of N200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira).

The court also ordered the forfeiture of a Toyota 4Runner SUV, Lexus RX 330 and mobile devices recovered from them to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

EFCC Arrests 13 Suspected Internet Fraudsters In Lagos

> Convicted Abeokuta Yahoo Boys to Refund $ 6,100 to Victims 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office on Tuesday March 2, 2021 secured the conviction of four internet fraudsters before Justice Mohammed Abubakar of a Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The quartet are Olawale Ibrahim Damilare, Goodluck Sambo Olatayo, Mathew Anuoluwapo Awoniyi and Samson Olawale Ayomide.

They pleaded guilty to one-count amended charge of fraudulent Impersonation. The offence is contrary to Section 22 (2) (b) 1 and punishable under Section 22 (2)(b) of Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc) Act 2015.

In view of their ‘guilty’ plea, the prosecution counsel, Oyelakin Oyediran, reviewed the case and urged the Court to convict the defendants accordingly.

Justice Abubakar convicted and sentenced  Olawale Ibrahim Damilare and Goodluck Sambo Olatayo to three months and four months imprisonment respectively, while Matthew Anuoluwapo Awoniyi and Samson Olawale Ayomide were also convicted and sentenced to seven and eight months respectively.

Justice Abubakar ordered the convicts to refund various sums to their victims: Olawale, $1,500 (One Thousand Five Hundred United States Dollars); Olatayo, $500 (Five Hundred United States Dollars); Awoniyi, $100 USD and Two Hundred and Thirty Two Thousand Naira (N232, 000) and Ayomide, $4,000 (Four Thousand United States Dollars).
