The Abia State Vigilante Office in Umiahia has been reportedly burnt after a clash between the traders in the Umiahia Industrial Market (Aka Timber market) and security operatives. From what was gathered, the Vigilante Officers had a misunderstanding with the traders over tax payment. The Security operatives allegedly prevented tax defaulters from displaying their goods, thereby halting sales. The action led to rowdiness, and later gunshots. It was reported that stray bullets later hit some of the traders. Irked by the action, the traders mobilised themselves and burnt down the office. As of the time of writing this, the fire is yet to be quenched.
