And he gave some, apostles; and some, PROPHETS; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers. — Ephesians 4:11 In our contemporary church age, the prophetic just like like wild fire, has caught a lot of attention. Many men and women have gone out of their ways, even coming from very long distances, to hear a prophet or prophetess speak out deep mysteries concerning their lives. However, the prophetic isn't limited to a privileged few prophets in the church, it's freely available to every born again child of God. Now, I am not writing this message to run down any prophet and prophetess; I am a firm believer in the office and gift of prophecy. In fact the Bible says: Despise not prophesyings. — 1 Thessalonians 5:20 As we all know, we are in the very last days. The enemy, whose fate will be sealed in the lake of fire, is rounding up his activities with top speed and terrible wickedness. We see this wickedness in the sharp rise of the occult, money rituals, witchcraft, household enemies, etc. Like never before, the prophetic has become an absolute necessity. Infact, we need the prophetic to survive the onslaught of the devil these last days. There is so much happening around us spiritually. It's really sad that many children of God have little or no insight into the spiritual realm. Often, we run to prophets and prophetesses for prophetic insights into our problems. Now there is nothing wrong with that, we all should seek those gifted in the prophetic, however in the original biblical pattern, we all are 'prophets and prophetesses.' Acts 2 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¹⁷ And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: ¹⁸ And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. Through the Holy Spirit, the prophetic is freely given to all. We all by the Holy Spirit, can know deep mysteries in the spiritual world; we all can know what happened in the past or what will happen in the future. The Holy Spirit as a very loving person, can reveal so much to us if only we allow Him. But we must understand that there is a difference between routine prophecy through the Holy Spirit and the gift/office of a prophet or prophetess. The gift of prophecy is a special ability to operate in the prophetic by the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit has called some people to operate fully in the office of a prophet or prophetess. He has gifted such people with very powerful revelational gifts that most believers don't possess. Although the prophetic is accessible to all, the Holy Spirit has chosen some to operate in deeper dimensions of the prophetic. We know such people as prophets and prophetesses. In the scriptures, whenever people received the Holy Spirit, they prophesied. So a major function of the Holy Spirit is to enable us operate freely in the prophetic: And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. — Acts 19:6 Whether it's through a prophet or prophetess, or through an ordinary believer, all prophecies come by the Holy Spirit. If you are intimate with the Holy Ghost, you will surely prophesy even if you just an usher in church. The psalmist David, was called a prophet. (Acts 2:30) He spoke prophetically about the future by the Holy Spirit: For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool. — Mark 12:36 All the biblical prophesies were inspired by the Holy Spirit: 2 Peter 1 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ²⁰ Knowing this first, that no PROPHECY of the scripture is of any private interpretation. ²¹ For the PROPHECY came not in old time by the will of man: BUT HOLY MEN OF GOD spake as THEY WERE MOVED BY THE HOLY GHOST. Like stated earlier, the prophetic in these last days, isn't an option for all believers. We need the prophetic for the following reasons: 1. To know God's will for lives. (What He wants us to do, to possess and to become) 2. To know our divine destinies. (The reason why God created us) 3. To expose the evil plans of our enemies before they can be executed. 4. To expose the secrets of our problems and how to solve them. 5. To know what the future holds for us. 6. To expose satanic agents and their wickedness. 7. To expose and solve stubborn, foundational problems connected to the past. 8. To succeed and progress steadily in life. 9. To manifest God's glory 10. To convict unbelievers/believers of sin How to flow in the prophetic: 1. Understand that the Holy Spirit is the source of all prophesies. It's only through the Holy Spirit that we can operate in the prophetic. 2. Understand that God has called and gifted certain people to operate in deeper dimensions of the prophetic. It's a special calling. 3. Understand that even though you aren't called to the office of a prophet, you can still operate in a level of the prophetic through the Holy Spirit. 4. Understand that the Holy Spirit is a loving person, not an it, and He longs for our fellowship. The more time you spend with the Holy Spirit, especially by praying much in tongues, He will reveal so much to you via the prophetic. In my own life, I have discovered that although I am not called as a prophet, I have operated in a high level of the prophetic through praying much in tongues. The Holy Spirit has revealed my destiny, He has even shown me the rapture and other important details.
