The Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) came into force on the 25th of January, 2019, with the aim of giving citizens more control of the use of their data by organizations. By this, organizations are to ensure that adequate technological and organizational measures are in place to protect the data in their database. The Regulation also gave individuals rights that can be exercised at will. Of one interesting right is the right of erasure. By this, an individual has a right to ask for his or her data to be deleted. A naijaworlder has the right to ask any of the MOD to delete. Just like that. Also, there are legal basis organization rely on to process personal data. One of the legal basis is CONSENT. So many things done here which people don't consent to happen often. naijaworld as a platform could be held liable. And if naijaworld is in breach, could be fined 10 million or 2% of its turnover. Whichever one is greater. Regards!
