As reported by Easternvoice.com A group of soldiers attached to the 32 artillery brigade of Nkwagu millitary cantonment Abakaliki, were killed during a purported military raid against the Indigeneous people of Biafra (ipob) in Abakaliki. The incident which occurred at around 3:00pm in Abakaliki ,the state capital . According to a journalist; Wilfred onyebo , who claimed that , issue began when some groups indentified as members of ipob assaulted a military officer at a taxi park and took away his official rifle, though the officer was not killed but was severely injured; he said. The attackers were said to have dashed into the bush after assaulting the officer who's name could not be ascertained as at the time of filling this report. An eyewitness ,who identified himself as pastor, said; "immediately the attackers ran away , the soldierman left and less than fifteen(15) minutes arrived with 4 Hilux filled with soldier's ,all of us started running on sighting the soldiers ,though they didn't harass us , they moved into the onu_mmiri bush where the armed bandit escaped through, and after sometimes we heard a loud sound in the bush engulfed with fire and ashes emanating there of " The police spokesperson in Abakaliki, Asp loveth odah ,who confirmed the event to News men in Abakaliki, claimed that ; landmines and hydrogen explosives where buried at the shores of onu_mmiri bush by the runaway bandits, asp odah further explained that the explosives killed over 19 soldier's including the victim who was assaulted by the bandits. Meanwhile, there has been a growing tension in the southeastern part of the country towards the release of the estranged leader of the Indigeneous people of Biafra (ipob) Nnamdi kanu who has been indicted by the federal government of Nigeria owing to a sprowing agitation for the restoration of the defunct state of biafra.
