Cold desire is the most profound self-inflicted limitation to self-made decisions that do not always thrive on fear, even though it sometimes does. A cold desire, according to SOPDAM is a desire that is not triggered and developed; it is not a type of desire, it only describes the intensity of desire. The opposite of it is hot desire. Having desires without any external factor to trigger them, and no intentional efforts made towards their development into hot desires leaves them cold, sometimes ice-cold, and inactive. It is equivalent to a lack of desires even though this affliction is totally different from it. Lack of desire means that the desire is not there at all, but a cold desire is different. Cold desire is like an axe kept on the floor of a house where water drops on it for years without anyone making use of it; as time goes on, it will rot and become blunt. This is the same with desire; it needs to be intensified (developed or sharpened) to move on closer to its objects. While the cause of a cold desire can be traced to any of the types of fear, the environment in which one lives causes one’s desire to become cold. Continue reading........
