On the 13th January 2022, the Elegbeje Ede, inventor and promoter of "EGBEJE EDE" indigenous Yoruba board game added a feather to their cap in the quest to promote Yoruba language and culture at schools with the EGBEJE EDE game. On this auspicious day, EGBEJE EDE game had it's maiden inter- school competition in Nigeria sponsored by ARIKS International Academy, Ibadan.All thanks to the Almighty who made the vision a reality and success. For the benefit of those who are hearing about EGBEJE EDE game for the first time please permit me to introduce EGBEJE EDE game to you. EGBEJE EDE game is an indigenous Yoruba board game created to promote and enhance learning of Yoruba language at schools across South Western Nigeria and homes of people of Yoruba descent all over the world. Reason behind creation of EGBEJE EDE game is to bring a new approach into promoting Yoruba language so that it is protected from extinction threat posed to it by obsession for English language among present day Yoruba people. The EGBEJE EDE game maiden inter-school competition came up on the 13th of January 2022, at ARIKS International Academy hall Alarere Ibadan. In attendance were; pupils from; ARIKS International Academy Alarere, Valencia college Akobo, St David High school Kudeti Ibadan, Joint heirs schools Ibadan, Kresthill Academy Alarere Ibadan, featuring fifteen participants. All the participants gave a good account of their knowledge and proficiency in Yoruba language. After series of game game sessions, Valencia College Akobo won 1st and 2nd positions while St David high school took 3rd position. Mr and Mrs Oni Founders and proprietors of ARIKS International Academy Alarere Ibadan, sponsor of the competition made remarks that their reason for Powering the event is not for profiteering but as a contribution to promote Yoruba cultural heritage. They also admonish parents to teach the children language of the mother tongue so that they don't loss identify of where they are from. As we celebrate this giant stride in the journey of EGBEJE EDE game invention our special gratitude goes to God, ARIKS International Academy Ibadan, all schools that participated in the competition and all those who made the event a success.
