Money is not your pressing need! Some years ago, I had this friend who wanted to start her business and she already drew up the budget for it and started sourcing for fund. Before long, she raised the money and started the business. In a short while, she was back asking for help again... This did not just happen to this friend but I saw it happen to alot of people. When the thought of business comes, the number one focus is capital and before long, the capital is gone and the cycle starts again. This challenged me to research and reflect deeply on the cause of business failure because at the time, I was preparing to start mine. You know what? One of the major findings is - lack of vision. Yes, you heard me! Money is not the most important requirement for a business but VISION Not as though money is not needed at all but, money is not the most important. In fact, it would be much more easier to get funds and everyother thing needed when you have a compelling vison. If I give you money today and you lack vision for business, before long, you would come back asking for more money and the cycle goes on and on... I have seen people with wonderful support systems in husbands, parents, friends and families who support them financially to start up a business and the business barely survive three years - the primary business phase. Some were even able to put together fantastic proposals and won grants from institutions and private foundations but this did not span beyond three years. Others were able to access bank loans and this left them worse off and indebted because the business did not turn out as planned. Show me one successful business person and I will show you a person with a compelling vison. No wonder the Holy Scriptures says - where there is no vision, the people perish. Before you screammmm... •I need an additional source of income •I have heard that this business is very lucrative and its worth my investment •This business requires little capital that i can easily raise. •I cannot be idle, i have to do something to pay the bills. •The only thing I find possible and easy is business. •Business runs in my family and lineage... •Do you have a compelling vision? •Do you have a clear problem that your business would be tackling? •What do you aim to achieve from that business? Don't be in the class of people that hopes and believes that as time goes, things would fall into place and somehow the business will blow. Business does not work that way, it requires strategy rooted in a compelling vision. ✅You can start a business without a vision but you cannot sustain and scale a business without a vision. So... what is your business vision??
