Anambra International Conference Centre will create massive employment, says Speaker The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Uche Okafor says the International Conference Centre,Awka on completion will create massive employment for the youths and boost the internally generated revenue of the state. The Speaker disclosed this when he embarked on the inspection of the ongoing project alongside members of the House as part of their constitutional responsibilities. Expressing satisfaction with the quality of work done so far at the site, Rt Hon.Okafor, noted that the architectural design of the project is of international standard and will stand the test of time. The speaker said that the project will be completed soon and after completion, Anambra will join the league of states that have international conference centres that can host all kinds of conferences and conventions. He revealed that the project is seating on seven hectares of land with a five star hotel désigned for the relaxation of those that Will be using the conference centre and commended Governor Obiano for putting up such legacy project for the state. Conducting House members round the project, the Commissioner for Housing, Architect Michael Okonkwo said that the conference centre with ten thousand sitting capacity has multi-purpose halls, auditorium, restaurants, Museum, gallery and parking space that can accomodate over one thousand cars as well as other features that gave it international outlook Architect Okonkwo noted that the conference centre is one of the legacy projects of Governor Willie Obiano in addition to the Umueri City Cargo Airport and Awka City Stadium the Governor is currently working on,expressing the hope that the International Conference Centré will be delivered in a record time. On his part, the Chairman, House Committee on Housing and Urban Development, Honorable Lawrence Ezeudu observed that construction firm handling the project is working according to specification by using high quality materials for the construction of the building.
