Shall The Throne Of Iniquity Have Fellowhip With Thee?

THE VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS Series: 08-2021 Shall the Throne of Iniquity Have Fellowship with Thee? (Psalm 94:20) GOD is holy (Leviticus 19:2).  His Name is holy (Luke 1:49).  His Child JESUS is holy (Acts 4:27).  He dwells in His holy temple with His holy angels in His holy heaven (Psalm 11:4; Luke 9:26; Psalm 20:6).  The inherently holy GOD (Psalm 99:5) sits on His holy throne (Psalm 47: while the Seraphims and the twenty-four elders bow in honour, worship and obeisance singing Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory (Isaiah 6:3; Revelation 4:. Iniquity is synonymous with sin.  It is an unabated form of sin.  It is a type of sin that one does not want to do away with.  It is worse than transgressions (1 John 3:4).  It is a gross form of wickedness.  As we look through Scriptures, we see biblical characters whose lifestyles were characterised by iniquities and wickedness.  The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas who were priests in Israel were described as “sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.” (1 Samuel 2:12).  The sin of these priests the bible says “was very great before the LORD.” (1 Samuel 2:17).  Their actions made the table of the LORD to become contemptible to the children of Israel (1 Samuel 12:17).   The day GOD chose to destroy these ungodly priests, was in the war front as they the (priests) who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD were ministering. 1 Samuel 4:10-11 says “And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.  11 And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.” Why was Israel defeated by the uncircumcised Philistines and the ark of GOD taken? Was it because GOD was powerless?  Of course not.  GOD forbid! The GOD of heaven and earth can never and will never be powerless.  GOD showed His power on the Philistines by inflicting them with plagues until they let go of the ark of GOD back to Israel (1 Samuel chapters 5-6).  The reason for Israel’s defeat in the hands of the Philistines was Sin.  The sinful lifestyles of the priests Hophni and Phinehas were mainly responsible for this defeat.  Their deaths were a fulfilment of prophecy (1 Samuel 2:34).  GOD, the holy GOD does not inhabit the praises of sinners.  In fact, the sacrifice of the sinner, the bible says “is an abomination to the LORD” (Proverbs 15:.  The LORD was therefore not with Israel in this war against the Philistines.  This made their enemies to thoroughly defeat them. In our churches today, we have pastors, evangelists, prophets, apostles etc who are exactly like Hophni and Phinehas.  Just like we have pastors, general overseers, apostles, bishops etc who have set up thrones of iniquities in their various places of worship. There are many who profess to be ministers of the gospel but still indulge in the practice of sleeping with and defiling their female members just as Hophni and Phinehas did in their days (1 Samuel 2:22).  The LORD JESUS CHRIST forewarned His disciples that iniquity shall be many in the last days and this will make the love that many have for GOD to reduce tremendously (Matthew 24:12).  Brethren, this prophecy is being fulfilled in our days. Committing iniquity and other abominable sins have become the order of the day in many churches.  The abominations going on in our churches these days could be likened to those in the days of Ezekiel’s prophecies to apostate Judah.  We have in today’s churches, elders like Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan who offer incense to idols and worship the sun while facing the east (Ezekiel 8:11-12, 15-16). We have in our churches, women like there were in the land of Judah weeping for Tammuz the Babylonian god of vegetation.  A week hardly passes without a scandal involving a prominent pastor or apostle appearing on social media.  Rather than believers speaking against these evils, we align and support those dragging the name of the LORD to ridicule: thereby encouraging them to do more.  Let us be mindful on how we support those disgracing the gospel of JESUS CHRIST in order not to become partakers of other people’s sins (Exodus 23:1-2). GOD is a holy GOD Who fellowships only with those who live holy lives (John 4:24; Psalm 24:3-5). David in Psalm 66:18 said “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the LORD will not hear me.”  Sin and communion with GOD are like two parallel lines: they can never meet.  No one who lives in iniquity has a relationship with the LORD JESUS CHRIST because “GOD is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5).  CHRIST JESUS does not hear the wicked.  The Holy One of Israel (Isaiah 43:3) expects that all His worshipers must be holy.  He says to Moses in Leviticus 19:2 “Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy.”  The GOD of the Bible will not tabernacle on the throne of iniquity, neither will He be found seated on the seat of violence (Amos 6:3).  He is the GOD Who dwells upon mount Zion - a holy city and the city of the great King. (Psalm 48:1-2; Hebrews 12:22). As we conclude today’s message, let us remind ourselves that the holy GOD of heaven and earth inhabits only the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3).  He will not dwell in the midst of the wicked because He hates what they do.  The bible says that GOD “is angry with the wicked every day” (Psalm 7:11).  He is the Judge of all the earth (Genesis 18:25).  Just as He sent His judgement upon Hophni and Phinehas so will He send His judgement upon the wicked one day.  Many of us act as if GOD is oblivious of what we do in our secret places.  It is only a fool who will say “The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it. Or that the LORD hath forsaken the earth.” (Psalm 94:7; Ezekiel 8:12).  The GOD of heaven does not forget.  He suffers long because He does want any of us to perish (2 Peter 3:9). If you are a pastor, apostle, prophet, general overseer etc and live in iniquity, the GOD of heaven is angry with you.  He will judge you one day.  Your punishment will be greater than those who do not know GOD because you know Him, but have allowed “the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life”, to remove you from GOD’s holy presence (1 John 2:15).  Repent therefore and turn from your wicked ways my dear minister of the gospel so that you will “be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19).  Otherwise, you will be judged just as Hophni and Phinehas the sons of Eli, priests in Israel were judged by this holy GOD. GOD bless you. Bro Michael Dike
