Studying Nursing Abroad – What You Should Know

There are always a high demand for Nurses and Healthcare professionals all over the world. A degree in nursing will give you the skills needed to care for the needs of patients, both physically and psychologically. It is a very vital responsibiity of every country’s health service. Most countries are short of Nurses, so your skills will highly be demanded. If you choose to study Nursing abroad it means gaining access to world-class programs and creating an opportunity for yourself to reach your potential. Nursing program structure The structure, content and length of a nursing program depends on the university and country you are studying in. In certain countries, it is possible to become a registered nurse in two years while in others you’ll need to study for at least three years to qualify. Most programs include hospital placements, where you’ll have the chance of working in range of areas like surgery, accident and emergency, medicine and critical care. 50% of your time could be spent in placement, while the remaining of your time will be for lectures, practical classes and independent study. Your accessment will be through written and practical exams, coursework and your performance during your time of placement. If you are studying Nursing Abroad at bachelor’s level, you’ll be taught the theory behind nursing, clinical skills and your understanding through teaching and hospital placements will be developed. Common modules and areas of study include: 1. Foundations of nursing 2. Person-centered nursing 3. Communication skills 4. Therapeutic approach and practice 5. Global health issues 6. Introduction to professional practice 7. Research methods 8. Healthcare sciences 9. Medicine management 10. Medicine management 11. Practical nursing skills
