> According to a report provided by Spanish media outlet SPORT, Riqui Puig will remain in Barcelona. It is reported that the midfielder is eager to contribute for the Garnet and Blue, with manager Ronald Koeman planning to rely on him more extensively in the coming season. SPORT also said that Riqui had received numerous offers from major European clubs, but that he had turned them all down in order to remain at Barcelona. Apparently, Ajax Amsterdam, Granada and Celta de Vigo in Spain were interested in signing him, as were a number of other clubs in the German Bundesliga and the English Premier League, according to reports. Barcelona is trying to offload a handful of midfielders during the current transfer window, which will allow the 21-year-old to join the club in the summer. Miralem Pjanic’s former club Juventus is interested in acquiring him, but only as part of a trade deal. AC Milan are interested in signing Philippe Coutinho, who has already left the club, while Matheus Fernandez has also left. Considering that Riqui Puig is a fan favourite, his removal from the team’s chemistry came as a surprise to many. Given that they have few, if any, midfielders on their trip to Barcelona, the teenager will be leaned on even more by his coach. In spite of the overwhelming odds against him, Riqui has been adamant about achieving success in and only in Barcelona since the beginning of his professional career. Aside from a brief appearance in the final game of the 2018/19 season, he was absent for a substantial stretch of the 2019/20 season. Due to Pedri’s absence from the Olympics, the upcoming season could be his breakout season.
