Governors Excellence Awards 2020 Nominees Unveiled!
The Organizers of the prestigious Governors Excellence Awards (GEA) have announced nominees for the maiden edition of the award ceremony. According to the organizers, the Governors Excellence Awards (GEA) is a credible award ceremony endorsed by the public. In a statement by the organizers, GEA celebrates outstanding performance and achievements of state governors across the 36 States in Nigeria. The 12 categories of the awards include: State Governor of the Year - Security, State Governor of the Year – Environment, State Governor of the Year - Road Infrastructure, State Governor of the Year – Science & Technology, State Governor of the Year – Education, State Governor of the Year – Transportation, State Governor of the Year – Trade & Investment, State Governor of the Year – Agricultural Development, State Governor of the Year – Healthcare, State Governor of the Year – Culture & Tourism, State Governor of the Year - Housing Development and State Governor of the Year - Youth & Social Development. ‘‘Some of the Nominees for the awards include, Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos State), Babagana Umara Zulum ((Borno State), Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa (Delta State), Udom Gabriel Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom State), Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai (Kaduna State), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), Benedict Bengioushuye Ayade (Cross Rivers State), John Olukayode Fayemi (Ekiti State) and also Simon, Bako Lalong (Plateau State), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara State), Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki (Edo State), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (Kano State), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto State), David Nweze Umahi (Ebonyi State) ‘‘The objective of the event is to celebrate the outstanding achievements of state governor’s policies, projects, infrastructural development & budgets implementations in other to foster good governance & dividends of democracy across the 36 states of the federation. The awards will afford the citizens the opportunity to celebrate exemplary state Governors whose service and contributions go beyond the call of duty in making positive impact in the lives of its citizens,’’ the statement read in part.
