Old picture of Onitsha surfaced online. Onitsha is a major commercial and industrial hub located in Anambra, South-East Nigeria. The city serves as a gate way to other SE cities and important towns such as Enugu, Owerri, Abakaliki, Awka, Nnewi, Aba, Nsukka, Umuahia and Orlu. This means you must make a brief stop over at Upper Iweka(A popular park in the heart of the city) if you are heading towards any of the aforementioned cities in Igboland. The city has an estimated current population of about 15 million inhabitants with 52 bustling markets. The Town has continued to spread into 5 LGAs with massive development, springing up in form of Estates, GRA, Layouts, Industrial Town with Realtors and Valuers taking advantage of commercial cluster and population of the town. Onitsha depicts the resilience and undying spirit of Ndigbo as most multi-storey building are individually owned with little or no government presence. Onitsha prides itself as the home for all where everybody is accommodated. Most markets in the city have both Hausa and Yoruba lines where other tribes display their wares and trade with Igbos. No discrimination, tribalism and ethnicity in Onitsha because everyone is treated equally being a commercial arena. No matter who you are, you have to be very smart immediately you see a signpost/billboard welcoming you to ONITSHA.
