THE UGLY TRUTH ABOUT BIAFRANS I don’t know how to start because my heart is very sad. If you look, every ethnic nation in the South and Middle Belt wants Freedom and they are all shouting “self-determination”. All EXCEPT for Igbos who shout “Biafra” instead. ALL the Biafra groups including Ojukwu (of blessed memory) did not succeed to get us Freedom with that word “Biafra”. At least for Ojukwu, we truly were seeking a new country and our fathers tried well during the genocide war against us. Then 30 years after Ralph Uwazuruike brought up that word “Biafra” but we didn’t know he was selling us a failed system. We did not know the word “Biafra” does not satisfy the criteria for self-determination set by international law and UN. What we know is off course Ralph Uwazuruike could not bring us Biafra. However he himself got very rich. Then we had Nnamdi Kanu. Again no Biafra because that word cannot give us success, but he himself got very rich. Then we have Uche Mefor. Again there will be no Biafra because that word cannot give us success, but he is trying hard to get very rich. Then we have Simon Ekpa. Again there will be no Biafra because that word cannot give us success, but he is trying hard to get very rich. Then we have several others on Facebook ranting about Biafra. Again there will be no Biafra because that word cannot give us success, but they are all trying hard to get very rich. If we were wise and sincere in wanting to exit One Nigeria we would have used the word “SELF-DETERMINATION” like Yoruba and others are doing. Here is why the word Biafra will bring failure always. It is copied from an article and I also have the link to it below. “Today, because of NOT DOING THE REQUIRED RESEARCH AND READING, groups of differing sizes each claiming that they are freedom fighters who will bring self-determination using the word “Biafra” have sprung up. However, Igbos should accept once and for all, that the word “Biafra” is a NON-STARTER when it comes to obtaining self-determination. “Biafra” will NOT WORK and the reasons can be found in several United Nations or International Law documents but just two will be mentioned here. One is the “Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States”. It lists four criteria for statehood, ie full self-determination, as: (A) a permanent population, ie there must actually be a mass of people; (B) a defined territory, ie a PRECISE MAP of the area; (C) government, ie some kind of governance or political structure; (D) the capacity to enter into relations with other states. The word “Biafra” does not meet these requirements. There is NO DEFINED TERRITORY for “Biafra” as it means different things to different peoples. Therefore, who make up the “permanent population”? This rules out having “government” (in an acceptable sense). That also means it cannot meet the requirement of “capacity to enter into relations with other states”. The “United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples” (UNDRIP) is another document that shows that using the word “Biafra” when seeking self-determination is futile, and hopeless.” Link to the article: Ndi Igbo WE ARE HURTING OURSELVES and our children by holding on to what will bring us failure when we could hold on to “self-determination” and get our freedom. This is why my heart is sad.
