The Thinkers Magazine Lecture and Award Dinner night which took place September 20, 2021 where the chairman of Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, Abuja chapter, Halima Usman was conferred with the magazine's 2020 'Icon Of Literature' Award may have come and gone, it is however not without the litany felicitations the celebrated author still receives. [i][/i] The latest is coming from the Founder and Artistic Director, Arojah Royal Theatre, Mr. Om'Oba Jerry Adesewo who has described the recognition as a testament of hard work, dedication and excellence. Adesewo who is also the Director of Media and Publicity of National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners, NANTAP was the secretary of ANA Abuja during Usman's first tenure in office. In a congratulatory letter dated October 9 and personally endorsed by him, Adesewo said Usman's recognition by the reputable magazine clearly shows that her efforts in leaving a legacy that will make the Nigerian society better is being acknowledged and appreciated. "We at Arojah Royal Theatre heartily felicitate with you on your recognition as Thinkers Magazine 2020 Icon of Literature. "This did not come to us as a surprise because you have remained a loud voice of advocacy for a better society for this generation and generations to come using literature as a tool for change. "You have been a perfect demonstration of how much difference we can make in our environment from our little corners using any platform available to us" the letter partly reads. Recall that days after her recognition, Usman's social media pages went abuzz with messages of congratulations from friends, associates and well wishers. She dedicated her award to the glory of God and good of humanity. "I dedicate this one to the glory of God Almighty and to the good of humanity. Thank you #ThinkersMagazine" and thank you great family and friends. "You all contributed to making me the recipient of many awards this 2021" she said. Thinkers Magazine, a sister publication of the online-based Thinkers Newspaper said the award is in recognition of her creativity, hard work, sterling writing skills and immense contributions to the development of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA). Her nomination came after the Award Selection Committee of the magazine made up of renowned specialists in different sectors of the nation's economy found her worthy of recognition in this capacity, the Managing Director of the Magazine, Hajiya Falmata Zanna Abba said. Recall that the ANA Abuja chairman recently brought political bigwigs together, including the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Paulin Tallen, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Science and Technology, Barr. Mohammed H. Abdullahi, Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Manasa Daniel Jatau, Director General of National Orientation Agency, Garba Abari, HRH Eng. Sale Mohammed - Mai Kaltungo and other notable Nigerians for the public presentation of her seven books. The books include Mallam Sidi, Fauziya Saves The Day, Mr Cockroach, The Big Aquarium, Emeka The Farmer, Kola & Lola and Against The Odds. Usman who is currently serving her second term in office as ANA Abuja chairman was also recently honoured by an international NGO, StandTall Africa Initiative as Outstanding Woman in Education, Business & Leadership. She was in the delegation of Forum on African Women Leadership Development who recently visited Kigali in Rwanda for an engagement. Sharing her experience in her social media page, Usman said, "I was at Kigali Rwanda for the Forum on African Women Leadership Development and had the privilege of visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. "How humanity can really turn beastly yet out of that came something beautiful: the New Rwanda that is gradually but steadily becoming the pride of Africa. "True forgiveness brings healing but most importantly the commitment of their government to build a new resilient country is remarkable. There is so much to learn from the Rwandans."
