How To Make Tapioca - 

1. Rinse Tapioca Pearls: Rinse tapioca pearls and then pour into a small bowl and cover with water. Let soak 45-60 minutes.

The Lagos State Safety Commission has sealed two lock-up shops on Martins Street, off Broad Street, due to safety violations.

The Director-General of the Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, disclosed that the two lock-up shops were sealed following a petition from a concerned member of the public alleging that the shops violated safety rules and regulations.

According to him, the Commission has a mandate to ensure the safety of lives and property in Lagos State.

He stated that the two shops were sealed in response to the petition received by the Commission from a concerned resident about a transformer located directly in front of the shops at No. 148, Broad Street, Marina, Lagos.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a transformer was installed directly in front of the two shops. The barricade on the transformer is touching the wall of the building, coupled with a gas generator situated close to the transformer, which poses a high risk and unsafe act to the people and the environment, as this may lead to another fire outbreak.

He implores members of the public to support the government’s zero-tolerance policy against violations of safety rules and regulations.

He emphasized that safety is our collective responsibility and urged members of the public to report unsafe practices or infractions to 0700SAFETY.

Debt: Kaduna lawmakers set up committee to probe El-Rufai’s administration

The committee is to investigate all financial transactions, loans, grants, and project executions between 2015 and 2023 when Mr El-Rufai was Kaduna governor.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has constituted an ad hoc committee to investigate all financial transactions, loans, grants, and project executions by the state government between 2015 and 2023.

This development comes on the heels of Governor Uba Sani’s statement at a recent town hall meeting that the state is grappling with a debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion and N115 billion contractual liabilities left behind by the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The disclosure sparked a debate on the debts, prompting calls for scrutiny of key officials involved in loan procurement, project execution, and fund utilisation.

Responding to these demands, the House asked the committee to summon prominent figures, including former speakers of the 8th and 9th Assembly, commissioners of finance, former managing directors of Kaduna MDAs, senior counsellor Jimi Lawal, and former commissioners of budget and planning to appear before it.

A motion of urgent public importance, moved by Mugu Yusuf, a PDP member representing Kaura Constituency, was adopted by other members at Tuesday’s sitting presided over by the Speaker, Yusuf Liman.

After deliberations, the speaker said the ad hoc committee would investigate abandoned projects and foreign loans received by the previous administration, as residents of the state have a right to be informed about the state’s financial position.

He said those to be summoned are expected to shed light on crucial details that could facilitate the recovery of funds earmarked for projects that were not completed.

The ad-hoc committee has Lawal Aminu (Doka/Gabasawa constituency) as chairman. The members include Mugu Yusuf (Kaura constituency), House Majority Leader Munira Tanimu; and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Shehu Pambegua.

The family of a bride-to-be and a group of travelers in Zamfara state displayed immense courage when they thwarted an abduction attempt by killing a terrorist, as reported by sources detailing the incident along the Talata Mafara-Gusau highway.

The bride's family, on a journey to purchase wedding attire and supplies in Kano, encountered armed bandits who launched an assault on them, turning their plans into a terrifying ordeal.

NCAA suspends three private jet operators for operating commercial flights
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has taken action against three private jet operators for their involvement in commercial flights.
The suspension of their permits was announced in a notice posted on the NCAA’s website, signed by Acting Director General Captain Chris Najomo.
This move comes after warnings from Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, regarding unlicensed private jet operators conducting commercial services, which he stated were causing significant revenue loss to the Federal Government.
Despite previous warnings, these operators continued their commercial flight operations, leading to their suspension. Najomo emphasized the Authority’s commitment to enforcing regulations, stating that a re-evaluation of all permit holders would be conducted to ensure compliance. Additionally, he directed all holders of the Permit for Non-Commercial Flights (PNCF) to submit relevant documents within 72 hours.
The statement also addressed existing Air Operator Certificate (AOC) holders, urging compliance with regulations and emphasizing the importance of valid certification for charter operations.
The NCAA urged the public to avoid patronizing charter operators without valid certification and encouraged legitimate industry players to report any suspicious activities promptly.

The active voice subscription statistics witnessed a marginal growth from 220,715,961 to 221,769,883 as of September 2023. In addition, Internet subscriptions also enjoyed a marginal increase, from 159,034,717 in August 2023 to 160,171,125 in September 2023.

There are strong indications that the sudden resignation of former Managing Director and CEO of First Bank, Dr Adesola Adeduntan was triggered by directives from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

LEADERSHIP gathered that news of his resignation broke in Nigeria while Adeduntan was still attending the World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings in Washington DC.

The former CEO suddenly notified the board of his intention to leave with effect from April 20, eight full months to the expiration of the third term of three years which he won as a reprieve by former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele.

Announcing his retirement, the MD said: “As you are aware, my contract would be expiring on 31 December 2024 after which I would no longer be eligible for employment within the Bank having served as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank for a record time of nine years.

“During this period the Bank and its subsidiaries has undergone significant changes and broken new grounds. We have repositioned the institution as an enviable financial giant in Africa. I have however decided to proceed on retirement with effect from 20 April 2024 to pursue other interests.

“I am eternally grateful to the board of directors of FirstBank and FBN Holdings Plc for the support that I received from them during my stewardship. I wish our iconic institution continued success and progress as we move into the next phase of its evolution.”

Messages sent to the Bank were not replied as at the time of writing this report.
According to one inside source, “there are several moving parts in the unfolding drama.
There is the matter of an unresolved issue flagged by the regulator years ago and how this has not been fully resolved to the satisfaction of the apex bank and there is also the issue of mismanagement of relationships and added to this is the question of ego.”

One source said following the questions raised by the central bank, the initial target had been the entire board of the bank itself and there is a suggestion the apex bank dialled back once it realised that the current board of the bank was appointed by the CBN itself.

Recall that FBN Holdings Plc also cancelled its Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) scheduled for April 30th, 2024 to get shareholders’ approval on the raising of N300 billion capital.

Before this sudden resignation there had been expectation that Adeduntan would take up the position of managing director at the HoldCo level but it is unclear if this plan was abandoned because the regulator withheld its approval of the request from the bank. There is what is called a two-year “cooling off period” imposed by the regulator between directorship tenures in banks in Nigeria and this may have counted against the plot for Adeduntan to move up.

On April 28, 2021 former directors at a board meeting of the bank had voted for Adeduntan to be retired as his second term was to expire but he regained his position after the board was sacked by CBN Governor Emefiele.

It is unclear why the bank CEO is leaving now but First Bank has had a policy by which Managing Directors of the bank were allowed only two terms of three years each. Adeduntan would have been the first CEO to last three full terms on the job.

“As you are aware, my contract would be expiring on 31 December 2024 after which I would no longer be eligible for employment within the Bank having served as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank for a record time of nine years,” Adeduntan said in his letter resigning.

According to the letter, “during this period the Bank and its subsidiaries have undergone significant changes and broken new grounds. We have repositioned the institution as an enviable financial giant in Africa. “I have however decided to proceed on retirement with effect from 20 April 2024 to pursue other interests.”

Furthermore, he expressed gratitude towards the board of directors of First Bank and FBN Holdings for the support he received from them during his tenure.

Adeduntan was appointed as CEO of First Bank in 2016. Prior to his appointment, he served as the bank’s executive director and chief financial officer (CFO). Before joining First Bank in July 2014, he was a director and the pioneer CFO/business manager of Africa Finance Corporation (AFC). Adeduntan formerly worked as a senior vice-president and CFO at Citibank Nigeria Limited, as a senior manager in the financial services group of KPMG Professional Services, and as a manager at Arthur Andersen Nigeria.

Cubana Chief Priest granted N10 million naira bail.

Popular celebrity, Okechukwu Paschal, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, has been granted bail of N10 Million naira.

He had earlier on arrived at the Federal High Court in Lagos for his trial after the EFCC, had accused him of naira abuse.

He was driven to the court around 8:45 am on Wednesday by EFCC operatives with armed police escorts.

On Tuesday, EFCC filed a three-count charge against the social media celebrity.

A copy of the document filed on April 4th by EFFC’s prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN alongside seven other lawyers representing the chairman of the Commission read:

“That you, Okechukwu Pascal on 13th Feb. 2024, at Eko Hotel, within the jurisdiction of the court, while dancing during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same for two hours, and you thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.”

“That you Okechukwu Pascal sometime in 2020, in Lagos during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same for two hours, and you thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.”

“That you Okechukwu Pascal sometime in January 2024, in Lagos during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same and you thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.”

He presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has responded to the question that he did not build a single new school when he was Governor of Anambra State.

A popular social media personality, Reno Omokri, had last week hit out at Obi, challenging the the former Anambra State Governor and his followers to show a single school he started and finished in his eight years as governor.

Reno promised to reward handsomely, anyone that could show a school built by Obi.

And responding to this during a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Obi said those who said that failed to avail themselves of his manifesto.

He said that when he came to Anambra State, education was in shambles, schools were closed and the state was number 26 in the country but by the time he left, Anambra was number one in the state.

“I improved the quality, physical and mental well-being of the people, schools, had the basic things they needed and the people shone like stars and that was my manifesto.

“Building new schools when the old ones are moribund is just like building coastal lines when internal roads are impassable.”

The first day anyone visits naijaworld he or she must surely comes across a comment from some random male saying "Women are useless". But you don't get to see the same high level of aggression from the female members towards men. The situation is so bad that even when a topic says a man murdered a lady you will still see men on the comments blaming the lady for the crime. 

I am really wondering what could be the reason why men on this forum are angry with women. I felt maybe it is the reaction from men who got rejected by a lady, but I also had it in mind that also men cheat, abuse and reject women. So why are women not also coming here to voice their anger and bitterness towards men? Are men just being immature?

IG wants NSCDC, FRSC merged with police

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, has advised the Federal Government to merge the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) with the police for effectiveness.

Egbetokun said this at the National Dialogue on State Policing, organised by the House of Representatives on Monday in Abuja with the theme “Pathways to Peace: Reimagining Policing in Nigeria”.

The IG, represented by the Assistant Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Mr Ben Okoro, said that the NSCDC and the FRSC were a duplication of the police.

Egbetokun also said that Nigeria was not ripe enough for state police urging those calling for state police to work toward merging the NCDSC and the FRSC with the police for effectiveness.

He said the police were battling with inadequate training as well as lack of adequate manpower. He said that most police barracks had dilapidated due to lack of maintenance and renovation.

“This has have a negative impact on the performance of the policemen,” he said.
Egbetokun also faulted calls for state police saying that Nigeria was not matured enough for state police.

He added that state police would create avenues for state governor to use it to suppress the opposition in their states.

He said creating state police would also lead to the problem of jurisdiction, which would bring about conflicts of interest.

He added that the state police would not be able to combat terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry, because they required enormous resources to combat.

He also said that there was a need to improve the training of personnel to enable modern policing, adding that funding was necessary to also help maintain internal security.

The Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, said that there was need for comprehensive and effective security framework to tackle rising security challenge in the country.

Musa, represented by Maj. Gen. Kunle Ariyibi, said that the security and safety of the country was paramount.

“I is imperative that we come together to find sustainable solutions.

” It is through collaboration and a shared commitment to the common good that we can develop policies and strategies that will enhance the security infrastructure of our dear nation,” he said.

Musa said it was imperative to create a security framework that would be inclusive, responsive, and capable of safeguarding the rights and freedoms of all Nigerians.
