What Is The Day Of The Lord?
I know a lot of Christians till today, still think that the day of the Lord will be Apocalyptic events as portrayed by the pictures below. But the Day of the Lord is far from that, i will explain in simple terms. Remember, there is time for everything. There was time for the old covenant and there is time for the new covenant where we are today. During the old covenant era(the old testament) men used to believe that the day of Lord was going to be apocalyptic event as portrayed by the pictures below but that wasn't the case. The day of Lord turn out to be the day Jesus was crucified and resurrected, that was for the people of the old covenant period. Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: Malachi 4:6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. The Elijah he sent was John the Baptist, he sent John the Baptist before the the day of Christ crucifixion and resurrection, which was actually the great day of the Lord, that was for people of the old covenant. But for us who are in the new covenant, who were bought to life after the resurrection of Christ, the day of the Lord is different thing entirely. To us, the day of the Lord refers to the day we die. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 1 Corinthians 5:4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Corinthians5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved IN THE DAY OF THE LORD JESUS. Destruction of the flesh refers to death of the believer who must have died committing sin and he is destroyed by Satan. But after that, his spirit is saved. The summary of all what I'm saying is: The day of the Lord isn't any apocalyptic event like rapture or whatever, infact this earth will last forever, no end. The day of the Lord is the we die. The day you die that is the end of your world, after that life goes on forever on this earth, no end.
